Vivacious appetites

I first heard this one when, on a radio show, a listener who had called in, described himself as a “vivacious reader”.

Vivacious readers exist also on the net but the abundance of “vivacious appetites” surprised me. There are thousands of them out there, including entries in scientific articles. (vivacious appetites of insects etc)
For those who missed it, (and I doubt there are many of you), I believe the intention is “voracious”.

The last example I give is representative of several where there seems to be a confused usage. That is, a vivacious person with a vivacious appetite or a person who has an appetite for being vivacious.

“With a vivacious appetite for creating innovative and diverse food combinations, I started my catering business in 1993 and I published my first cookbook”

“The food is excellent and will satisfy the most vivacious appetites.”

“We will miss her great sense of humor and her vivacious appetite for being the “life of the party”.”
