REST or ARREST control ... (wrest)

We’ve had posts on “wrestle control” in place of “wrest control” before, but other variations make sense too. For instance, one might consider having control after making an arrest, or one might consider things coming to rest after taking control.

This is nice too

In the 1980’s the Democrats were highly critical of President Reagan’s initiative in Eastern Europe to wrist control from the Communists.

It is man attempting to wrist control from God.

They will continue to pervert, steal, cheat, lie, and kill in order to wrist control from you.

I see that ‘wrest’ and ‘wrist’ are etymological buddies. Both are linked to the idea of ‘twist’.
