"extracircular" for "extracurricular"

From an application for a Mensa scholarship(!): ”...studying extracircularly…”. This one really seems to be an eggcorn. The meaning connection could be “outside the circle of what we’re supposed to be studying” or “outside the circle of academic activities”. It’s essentially new on Eggcorn Forum, having only been mentioned briefly in a discussion of a tangentially related eggcorn (“circular society” for “secular society”). Googling “extracircular activities” yielded well over 300 unique hits, probably all eggcornish.
