The etymology of the word chary reads like a poem.
From Middle English, from Old English Ä‹eariÄ¡ (“careful, sorrowful, pensive, wary, chary, anxious, grievous, direâ€), from Proto-Germanic *karagaz (“anxious, sadâ€), from Proto-Indo-European *ǵÄr- (“voice, exclamationâ€). Cognate with Dutch karig (“scant, sparing, austereâ€), German karg (“meagre, barren, poorâ€). More at care.
Wiktionary
The Online ED says it changed somewhere along the line from “full of care” to “careful”. A chary picker is thereby a careful one. One of those rare eggcorns where the eggcorn is more recherché than its acorn.
If you read in to it he is looking to be cool with you so he can get to know the people in you’re clan so that if at a point in time they are mad at you he can chary pick them from your clan . All I can tell you is non-competitive scrims are a joke.

a better profit can be made by selling homeopathic treatments or other brands of “alternative medicine” they are frequqnetly advertised to skirt around FDA regulations regarding testing their claims, and the display of side effects, and base their entire sales pitch on unscientific testimonials, misleading claims about biology(if not entirely false)and quote minning real studies to chary pick the sentences that support their claim.

We know now that it doesn’t matter what you force animals to look at before or while they mate and what their offspring will look like. Really, all you are doing is chary picking verses from the Bible that make it sound scientifically advanced.

It was getten’ good but he just kept mixing in his on personal religious agendas in. You can pretty much tell witch ones are rites and witch ones are morals. You have to “chary pick” you way through the book.

Here’s another take on cherry/chary: to be cherry of. This might be a simple malaprop, but it does suggest resisting temptation, remaining chaste.
But then, what’s the saying I read many years
ago———— “Be cherry of giving advice. Wise men don’t need it, and fools
won’t heed it”

The Court is well familiar with the substantial case law admonishing bankruptcy courts to be cherry of permitting petitioning creditors to withdraw their petitions due to obvious concerns of abuse of process and I share and respect those concerns.

And then there’s the nonce-sensical “be cheery of”. Hmm …. hmmm … stay happy, don’t go there?
Just took a quick look at the CPN chart; it looks primed for a 2-3 week cyclical bounce but I’d be cheery of taking a longer term view.

Edit: With a bit of distance, a lot of these look like spelling mistakes. The test would be the existence of “chary pie” – and there are indeed lots of folks out there confessing a hankering for chary pie.

Yeah, David, I’d have to agree that virtually any substitution of “chary” for “cherry” is just a misspelling. People who use, e.g., “you’re” for “your”, as in your first example, are simply not likely to have the word “chary” in their vocabularies—thus it’s not available to them for eggcorn formation. That’s why it’s more recherche than its acorn; it’s not really an eggcorn.
But the ones who substitute “cherry” in the “chary of” construction may indeed be eggcorning.
