I heard this on the radio, but read it as bowled upright, as if having executed a 360° somersault before regaining an upright stance, like some strangely gifted skittle. No examples of this, unfortunately, but plenty of bolds. Coincidentally, I’ve just discovered that ‘skittle’ is “akin to Old Norse skutill – harpoon, bolt…”.
