shin dig

one more stick to add to the bonfire after this shin digs over

I will Be attending your shin dig

Occurred to me that shindig might conceivably be taken to indicate the shins dipping towards the ground in a dance. The fact that shin-wag is sometimes sighted as a synonym might lend some measure of plausibility to the idea. But that also might be derived (eggcorn or not) from the more-standard (I think) chin-wag .

Who knows? Color me sceptikle.
