“Petal” for “pedal” has been discussed here before, but not its converse.
Seen yesterday in a Facebook group posting:
...looking for rose pedals for children to sprinkle along the march route on Saturday, May 25 March Against Monsanto…Any takers to bring pedals that morning??
Offhand, I’d say it’s just a substitution based on a mishearing, as any plausible meaning-connection that would render it eggcornish seems to be absent.

I tried to sneak this one in without comment earlier. Come on, they’re vaguely pedal-shaped. Bees think so too.

Ooooops—“Pedal†for “petal†has been discussed here before after all! It just didn’t show up when I searched under “petal pedal” because the word “petal” isn’t in your thread.

So that’s why I had trouble finding it. Duly acorned.
Your complaint has been dually noted and summarily dismissed.
