"all intent purposes"

This discussion in the Eggcorn Database: http://eggcorns.lascribe.net/english/32 … -purposes/ mentions several variations on the acorn “all intents and purposes”, but not this one (from http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kevin_Ayers ), which I’ve never seen until now:

Ayers was to all intent purposes a member of Gong in 1971 when the band first toured the UK.

So, now we can add “all intent purposes” to the deep, murky pool that includes “all intensive purposes”, “all intended purposes”, “all intense purposes”, “all intense and purposes”, and even “all intrinsic purposes”!

P.S. DavidTuggy, I tried to follow your instructions for doing hyperlinks, but couldn’t get them to work properly, so just inserted the URLs instead. I cannot find the page on this site that tells how to do italics, boldface, hyperlinks, etc. I do recall that, in the past, I’ve had to search long and hard to find that page. With all due respect to this site’s administrators, I must say that this is one of the least user-friendly sites I’ve ever participated in. I’m frustrated!
