I noticed the substitution of “I’m at the end of my patients” for “I’m at the end of my patience” while reading today, and “end of my patients” gets about 28 hits on Google, so it wasn’t an isolated event. The noun “patient” and the noun form of the verb “to be patient” have apparently been mixed up here; considering that they’re identical in the singular/infinitive, I suppose it makes sense. Maybe they’re imagining a doctor with a bad luck streak, who’s running out of people to care for?
