discussion of comic book movies
I stumbled upon this one a few hours ago. This was the only example of this substitution (“superpressing” for “suppressing”) I could find; searching under “superpress a laugh” produced no hits. I can see an eggcornish meaning connection here; supressing could be seen as “super-pressing”, i.e., keeping something down by pressing really hard on it. But I have no way of knowing what the perp’s thought process was. Maybe just a WTF typo? Maybe a seed that’ll grow into an actual eggcorn with further use? Dunno.
