Sellessly

Dr. Huston Smith worked tirelessly and sellessly to bring wisdom, tolerance, mutual understanding and respect, depth, discipline and high ideals to the study

Typo for “selflessly” or a reshaping of “zealously” to mean “without selling-out”?

If it were the second it would be a pretty eggcorn but none of the examples make the connection between “sellessly” and “sell”.

Re: Sellessly

Interesting find, Juan. The negative connotations of overzealous tumbled together with the notion of a hard-sell certainly has eggcornish possibilities. A brief scan of oversellous seems to confirm this:

Insted we have oversellous power drunk idiots slaming perfectley peacfull people to the ground like they are hardened criminals.

... about there wedding all of the info is speculative and the media including gossip blogs and oversellous fans tend to make stuff up if they can’t ..

... colleagues to support this bill. it’s vital we pass this bill to prevent a government shutdown, rein in oversellous regulations, and help put our.

And there is this, but I think it may be no more than wordplay as there seems to be a wrestler known as Oversellous:

His sells are beautiful, they may be a bit oversellous but I think it kinda fits Chikara as it is based on comics and comics are not realistic either.
