TV’s Archie Bunker was cranking out eggcorns four decades ago. Back then, they were called “Bunkerisms”. Examples include “they’re like two peas in a pot”, “a frigment of my imagination”, etc etc.
Though it’s not exactly an eggcorn, I remember one episode of All In The Family in which Archie said of band leader Xavier Cugat, “no human bein’ starts his name wid an X”.
Find them said inadvertally by people who have no idear they’ve said anything crong, and they will probably be legit eggcorns. When people are trying too hard to be funny (like Bunker’s writers, see also above) they are suspect at best if not attested elsewhere.
