"chop it up" for "chalk it up"?

This from a Facebook post: “Just chop this one up as a learning experience.”

Also found on an Apple support board: “Okay, we’ll chop this one up to a learning experience.”

I guess once you’re done learning from it, you chop it up and throw it away.
