"want" for "wasn't" or "weren't"

If it want for him, Bob Kane would have gone with a blonde guy with red tights and black undies, and big ol wings.

What should we do if it want for the churches?
Josh Billings quote

life would not be complete if it want for my Best friend

In some cases, this substitution could be based on a regional dialectical pronunciation of wasn’t as wan’t. But for some, there may be an eggcornish meaning connection between wasn’t and want in the sense of a lack of something, as in the phrase for want of, so possibly an eggcorn in some cases.

In some cases, this substitution could be based on a regional dialectical pronunciation of wasn’t as wan’t.

Or as wadn’t or wa’n’t where that first apostrophe corresponds to a very lenis (lax) glottal stop or alveolar flap. (Both of these are in the South Carolina part of my linguistic half-competency.)
