One of my students gave a speech and demonstration on hair-styling techniques. In the outline she wrote that she was using a rectal comb. I assume she meant a rat tail comb.

Welcome to the forum, Taylor00. It’s a funny slip. I’d place it in the mishearing, or mondegreen, category, I think, because it’s hard to see what’s rectal about it. There’s one other misheard rat-tail, on youtube, so it happens:

but she clearly says rat-tail. Another mondegreen that’s out there is a rattle comb.
