Don’t know quite what to say about this one – the return limper for “go out on a limp”. Limping does involve a gimpy, gammy or otherwise game limb. He limbed away is nicely literal, but those without a limp are limbing just as surely; who knows how limbed is being pronounced. There are a significant number of fanfic hits, such as the three above.
