We haven’t really discussed “some of money” on the Forum. It’s quite a common replacement for “sum of money,” as you can see in this list of Google hits” for “large some of money.” Google ngram suggests that the switch happens in about a tenth of one percent of published sources.

More some/summary. It may be that ‘zero-some’ is being used like tiresome or lonesome in sum examples.

I think you’re right, Dixon. Which of course does not deny that Peter’s analysis may be right for some perps as well/instead.
