A muriel

As a mispronunciation or malapropism this is well-known:

Wellington town council in Shropshire gave £600 to a local artist to “paint a Muriel” in an alleyway behind the bus station.

(a mention in ‘Private Eye’ which caught my attention seeing it in print)

so could there be any eggcornery to it?

Someone creative who can perhaps paint a Muriel on one of the walls

I’m looking for an artist to paint a Muriel in my loft in exchange for accommodation. I will supply paints and other supplies

I think it might be some kind of in-joke that is done on purpose, or a reference to a TV character who said it. All-in-all a bit of a non-starter in the eggcorn race. Right?

Re: A muriel

I notice the capital M of Muriel. Hmmm. A Lehmann?

Re: A muriel

I think it’s very plausibly a Lehmann.

Re: A muriel

What else would it be (if it’s at all eggcornish)? If Muriel is not a woman’s name, I have no clear idea what it is.
