"Spawn Ranch" for "Spahn Ranch"

The Spahn Ranch was a 500-acre parcel near Los Angeles which was used for filming many movie and TV westerns, but is perhaps most notorious for being the place where the Manson “family” lived while committing their infamous murders.

I wish ‘em peace and a weekend at Spawn Ranch with with the Manson family!

This is the most “L.A” I recall the band being; not counting their Spawn Ranch fixation.
music discussion

The writers of Aquarius didn’t really do themselves any favors with Melcher’s visit to Spawn Ranch.
TV show discussion

Features songs by Charles Manson and footage of the Manson family at the Spawn Ranch.
videotape description

Charles Manson deserves a lot more pain. It was the Spawn Ranch.
Manson discussion

Possibly an eggcorn for some. Spahn Ranch may be thought of as a place that spawned the murders, and the term “spawn” has some connections with horror, as in “hellspawn” and “spawn of satan”. If I understand the jargon correctly, this substitution of a common noun for a proper name is called an Auntie Lehmann—right?

So we’ve been calling it. Lehman —> Anti-Lehman —> Aunty Lehman. Who would have thought that the simple search for eggcorns would result in a substantial technical terminology. Someday we should do a Forum glossary.

Hatching new language, one eggcorn at a time.
