An easy mistake to make, surely?
To quote Oprah- she said no one tells you that bald pubendum are part of the menopause [for some women.]
‘Pubenda’ is the plural but he uses it in the singular, which should be ‘pubendum’.
A number or markings are triangular or vee-shaped traditionally interpreted as representing the female pubendum area, the origin of all human life.
I also have thought that about the desire some men have for the prepubescent look of a shaved pubendum….!

Surely!

we would be too simple-minded to understand it* .

Pudendum. Of what one ought to be ashamed. Love these Latin gerundives of obligation. Carthago delenda est. And “pubendum” is great. Could have been an eggcorn (a cauneas) in Latin.
Hatching new language, one eggcorn at a time.
