"BRING down the curtain" vs. "ring..."

Google counts:
77,100 BRING down the curtain
10,300 Ring down the curtain

To “ring down the curtain” means to conclude a performance or an action. It is in the dictionary, and yet there are only 10,300 uses of this term. Could this be one of those instances where the eggcorn usage exceeds the original, correct usage? One can certainly understand how “bring” might make more sense in this phrase.
