'co-tow' for 'kowtow'

Today I heard someone pronounce ‘kowtow’ as ‘co-toe’ and it seemed fairly eggcornish – co-towing meaning lending a hand with that heavy rope rather than just being abjectly servile perhaps. Refusal to co-tow could mean simply refusing to go along with the matter under discussion.

Cow-tow is in the database, with mention made of Ken L’s admirable ‘cow-toe’. Elsewhere on the forum are cowtail and cow-down variants.

... now co-tow with such agenda leaving decency out of reporting and throwing the country into calculated chaos and international infamy.

From intro, he was clear on his co-tow with OBJ even as he established him as part of the trouble with Nigeria since early days.

... encouragement of innovations as well as hard work through our indifferent financial systems that seem not to co-tow with the government.

Why is it that Benue State refuses to co-tow to normal democratic norms?

I like it!

(Possible Corollary: it is, and we are .)
