Swatling clothes

With the season in mind:

He was wrapped in swatling clothes lying in a manger and they fell on their knees to worship him. They opened their treasures and presented him gifts

... swatling clothes and lying in a major. And suddenly there was a multitude of the heavenly host. With the angel praising God and saying glory

[the body lying in] swatling clothes is the same body that we celebrate in the eucharist

No lèse-majesté intended, but “swatling” seems like a perfect name for a pesky child. Even a perfect child might well by his very perfection be irritating to us who lack it.
.
There are not a lot of them, and several seem to be from foreign climes. Mangers and swaddling clothes are not often mentioned nowadays except in the Christmas context. Lying in a major is still noteworthy. See any eggcornish reasoning there?

I want Christmas. Just give me plain baby Jesus lying in a major Christmas! 6. Dwight Christmas

*If the human mind were simple enough for us to understand,
we would be too simple-minded to understand it* .

(Possible Corollary: it is, and we are .)

Re: Swatling clothes

Probably not an eggcorn, but a big holiday shout-out to all those “raindeer” that brave the liquid elements to bring us gifts. https://www.google.com/search?q=%22rain … =592839051

Hatching new language, one eggcorn at a time.
