Turrent for turret.

Turrent instead of turret.

ex: How many turrent hardpoints does a Raven have?

This one I have seen mostly in online video games. I have yet to get a coherent answer from anyone as to why.

Re: Turrent for turret.

“Torrent” is probably running a bit of interference here. Also, English speakers have a tendency to insert n’s in places where they don’t etymologically belong. There’s a discussion of this in the Database article on “inherent>>inherit”: http://eggcorns.lascribe.net/english/550/inherit/

And I just posted about related things in a response to the post about “unslightly bulges”: http://eggcorns.lascribe.net/forum/view … hp?id=1676
