'admiral job' for 'admirable job'

About 2000 ghits for ‘admiral job’.

“He appointed them because he thought they would do an admiral job in the post.” … 20cb6c#144

“She has done an admiral job of bringing in elements that will engage with this age range…” … geID=59720

“Tom, as usual, you are not only the first to submit a uses case, but have
done a admiral job describing the user scenario.”

Re: 'admiral job' for 'admirable job'

This is one of those new-to-me eggcorns that I found in the wild and then discovered had already been discussed here in the Eggcorn Forum (though, like many worthy eggcorns, not yet added to the official list). FWIW, here’s the example I found:

Planet Waves played two shows in April with Jacob Harris sitting behind the kit, and doing a quite admiral job.

Further discussion of the derivations of admirable/admiral and the confusion over the butterfly name: … hp?id=3651

Hatching new language, one eggcorn at a time.
