"Korea" for Chorea

Peter’s post about Corian/Korian countertops suggested an obvious malaprop. A chorea is a neurological disorder characterized by involuntary, jerky movements of the limbs or face. It comes from the same root as “choreography”: the Gk. word choreia, for dance. Huntington’s Korea is a substitution of familiar word for one that is phonologically similar but semantically worlds away, technically, a pail.

Mental health support forum:
Last year I found out I am going get Huntingdon’s Korea like my dad died from.

Seeds for Charity ~ Huntington’s Chorea:
Q: What is Huntington’s Korea?
A: It is actually Huntington’s Chorea …. you heard it right. Huntington’s is a degenerative brain disease that can be inheartied from your parents.

Ear, Noase & Throat community support::
The rhumatic fever remained in my heart, AND brain, causing me to have a heart murmur, and an extremely RARE disease called Sydenham’s Korea A.K.A. St. Vidas dance.
