sinking suspicion vs sneaking suspicion

For me a sinking suspicion is a suspicion (typically a sneaking one) which is accompanied by a sinking feeling. Not strongly eggcornish—feels like a sensible independent formation.

Re: sinking suspicion vs sneaking suspicion

This is a nice addition to my forum post:

The STINKING feeling (sinking) by jorkel Contribute! 1 2007-06-24 11:19:56 by patschwieterman

I wonder if there is some idiom blending going on.
