I’d never seen this one before today, but it seems to be rampant, particularly in the context of motor oil. This is one where the misheard term does have a related meaning to the correct term, though ironically “depose” is the more sophisticated of the two notions relating to getting rid of something.
For example, “If mealy bugs have infested the roots, it is best just to depose of the plant and start fresh.”

Maaaybe. The fact that a less common term (“depose”) is replacing a more common term (“dispose”) argues for it being a typo or malapropism.

Don’t know why I didn’t think to check two years ago, but there are plenty of examples running in the other (correct) direction. These may be eggcorns.
Examples:
Review of movie: “ By doing so, the devious cardinal plots to unleash war on the European Continent, and in the process plans to dispose the King and Queen of France,â€
