Being amenable to change of course means being willing to amend your plans or expectations, which of course is a way of letting yourself be amended.
Beliefs on grammar teaching less amendable to change were views on grammar rule memorisation,
accuracy-based drills and instantaneous error correction
If you are amendable to the idea of getting a foreclosed property in Miami, then you might want to pick
the best ones in the market for a worthwhile investment
As of this writing, Senate Democrats seem amendable to the idea, but House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA)
had yet to agreed to the solution.
Instead, Speaker John Boehner (R-OH) and the rest of the the GOP leadership team, said they’d be much
more amendable to the plan if it was offered to them in smaller, separate bite
(btw, hello all, it’s good to be back after a long hiatus.)

We’ve missed you, David T.
Hard to believe we haven’t nabbed this one before. I can’t find any reference to it in the index.
I suspect that “amenable” is a hidden eggcorn for many people—they silently assume that it has something to do with “amend.”

Tocayo! Benvenido!
Did you mean “amend” or “amen”, Kem?

“Amenable.” I wonder how many people silently import the meaning of “amend” into the word, even when they say/spell it correctly. I suspect that I did at one point, at least until I became familiar with the French “amener à .”

A connection with “amenities†is there to be made. I wonder how many of us make it?
How would “Amen” fit in? As signifying agreement, I suppose … With the first vowel pronounced neither with a “long ā“ (to rhyme with Ray-men) nor with an “ah†(to rhyme with ramen) that doesn’t seem too probable a connection. I suppose you likely meant it as a bit of a joke in any case, Tocayo.

Spotted in today’s New York Times, in a column by Thomas B. Edsall:
At one level, the growing strength of suburban Democrats suggests that these white bastions may be more amendable than they have been in the past to inclusive racial policies.
