Being amenable to change of course means being willing to amend your plans or expectations, which of course is a way of letting yourself be amended.
Beliefs on grammar teaching less amendable to change were views on grammar rule memorisation,
accuracy-based drills and instantaneous error correction

more amendable to the plan if it was offered to them in smaller, separate bite

Hard to believe we haven’t nabbed this one before. I can’t find any reference to it in the index.
I suspect that “amenable” is a hidden eggcorn for many people—they silently assume that it has something to do with “amend.”

“Amenable.” I wonder how many people silently import the meaning of “amend” into the word, even when they say/spell it correctly. I suspect that I did at one point, at least until I became familiar with the French “amener à .”

A connection with “amenities†is there to be made. I wonder how many of us make it?
How would “Amen” fit in? As signifying agreement, I suppose … With the first vowel pronounced neither with a “long ā“ (to rhyme with Ray-men) nor with an “ah†(to rhyme with ramen) that doesn’t seem too probable a connection. I suppose you likely meant it as a bit of a joke in any case, Tocayo.
