"Pine corn" for "pine cone"

Reading up on sexual selection I came across this:

The guinea fowl with the shape of corn on its body and pheasant with the shape of the pine corn on its body
http://www.thegreatdebate.org.uk/ESexualSeln.html

Might it be a perseveration error? A quick shufti showed that, under our noses, pine corns gets more than 200 hits. DT has already noted the existence of the eggcone pine, Pinus oocarpa.

It was right there under your nose all the time. (There probably was a clever title to justify the acronym, but I don’t remember what it may have been.)

Mentioned in the last post here: http://eggcorns.lascribe.net/forum/view … hp?id=3722 Seen but NOT observed. Under our noses.

Some of us have made nominations for this award each year.
