A student writes: “Poe wanted to give readers an inside into his own mind….” She uses it consistently for “insight.” Might be a mere misspelling, but looks eggcornish to me, as I can see the logic of giving someone an inside view into something.

The flip of an insight joke ; It’s a nice catch, makes great sense.

Did I catch it right that that was your fiftieth post, Catherine, whereby you have joined the exalted ranks of the eggcornistas? Congratulations!
.
(Later): Whoops, looks like Juan scooped you, in the third post at the above link. (I just re-read it a little more carefully.) Irrelevant, of course, to the beauty of the eggcorn itself.

Gosh, I’ve always aspired to eggcornistahood! I just might add it to my CV.

You are the persistent turtle and not the flighty hare, Catharine. Nine years to get to 50 posts. Your eggcorn-to-post ratio must be the highest in the Forum.
Hatching new language, one eggcorn at a time.

Gracious, has it been nine years already? How time flies when you’re having fun. I suppose it’s because I don’t comment much on others’ posts, as I’m not really a linguist. I only post when I think I’ve caught an eggcorn in the wild.
