"long and windy road" for "long and winding road"

This would be a funny substitution in the right story, but in this case it was a report on a cupcake company’s new location, so I doubt the meteorological reference was intentional:

“It’s been a long and windy road for the Rocklin-based company.” http://www.newsreview.com/sacramento/pa … d=19748992

Re: "long and windy road" for "long and winding road"

I’ve actually heard this spoken aloud, and the people I’ve heard say “windy” pronounced “waɪndɪ” as in a corruption of the word winding, not the word for high winds. Might be an example of buffy-speak.
