This error in the opposite direction was reported here early on. But I ran across one (the first below) where it seemed inadvertent, in this direction. Most Inet hits look likely to be purposeful (e.g. “blackened blue†as a named color in a collection of colors), but a few may not be. There are more song lyrics (which are likely to have been machine-transcribed) than I like.
[Reader comment on a cartoon: Don’t let the bedbugs bite] If they do,hit em with a shoe.Til they turn blacken blue
Welcome Home Unforgiving Winter The frost on my skin has turn blacken blue at the solar winter from the north comfort me in my untimly death
The bruise is still a blacken blue still. Blood will flow into and from the heart. All these lies, all this blame. Cannot fight an arrow’s aim.
Not even six feet tall, skin turned blackened blue by the hard years on Tuchanka without a home and without food.
If blackened blue in particular is standard for anyone as a description of bruised flesh, I think it would be a dandy eggcorn. The Inet hits don’t seem to make that likely, but a perp confession would do it.

Reminds me of the married name of Redden White. Their babies come out pink.
