Another weird one, reminiscent of not after < only after and of could not come sooner < could not come soon enough
Like a roach in a sink, / I was fighting the water / I fell on my back down the drain / I’d drown you’d think but no sooner than later / I was back on my feet again
It was bound to happen no sooner than later, Google’s Gmail has reportedly been blocked in China after months of disruptions
one must wait and watch before complimenting any govt/admin that does anything anti minority. No sooner than later they will disappoint.
No sooner than later, a horde of black beasts with bony plating and red eyes leapt out at us. Me and Overclock held them off
At the moment you set your eyes on a product no sooner than later you start to think about it and what to do with it.
I could let my children roam free, like yours once did, but no sooner than later would someone record it on their phone,
Again, lots of phrases that overlap partially with the lexical items and a bit more with the meanings: sooner or later, sooner if not later, no sooner said than done, no later than you might expect, pretty soon, soon enough, as soon as you might expect, right away, immediately , etc

Sooner rather than later works for just about everybody; sooner than later is used by some. (Add them to the list of likely source phrases.)
