A coin is said to be in mint condition if it’s unworn, i.e., if it’s in exactly the condition it was in when minted. This phrase is now applied to all kinds of collectibles and merchandise, but the original connection to mints and minting seems to have loosened. Perhaps when someone now claims that a camera or a cd is in ‘min condition’ they are trying to say that the object has suffered minimal use or damage. The newer phrase is quite popular, especially among ebay sellers. Examples:
