I wonder whether we’ll see more use of “reign in” for “place limits on.” This is probably just a ‘braino,’ though; I haven’t been able to find another example.

The consensus around the Database is that reign for rein (as in free reign and reign in) is a “nearly mainstream” eggcorn. See examples and links to related analyses there.

And here’s an example of another variation I just encountered:
