'prudenda' for 'pudenda'

Although we quite rightly eschew the gratuitously salacious we certainly have no fear of the ‘never regions’ and David Kosofsky’s recent post reminded me of this possible eggcorn which was used by one of my most reliable suppliers. When I first checked, there were no googlehits but now I find several apparently genuine examples:

The 3-5cm wide central channel of the saddle prevents the anus, the prostrate, the prudenda veins, the deep dorsal vein and artery of the penis, ...

At the same time, the prudenda or vulvo of the patient was treated three-times with a disinfectant to control contaminated bacteria, and then absorbent …

One can’t help wondering whether the patient in the second example had Swedish connections…

Let’s do what we can to protect the prostrate, the prudenda veins, and the Swedish bits by all means. Thanks for bringing the never regions to our attention, too.

Not to mention the pubenda.

When you mix up prudery with puberty and pudeur regarding the pubic area, all kinds of things can happen.
.
I have various kinds of goofs about pubic transportation or achieving pubication, but they are more likely omission typos than anything else. And some embarrassing ones about the public area as well.

Ken Lakritz posted on “public hair” here: http://eggcorns.lascribe.net/forum/view … hp?id=114. It remains amazingly common.

Re: 'prudenda' for 'pudenda'

David B threw “pubenda” into the ring en passant. It is a common error and a really funny eggcorn. Got it on my “best of 2009” list.
