"Suffer" dioxide

In Canada, the well-to-do live upwind of the city centre and the unwell-to-do downwind. We downwinders suffer the effects of air pollution from factories and cars coughing out sulfur and nitrogen oxides. It would be a natural connection to think of it as suffer dioxide. Nevertheless, I’ve put this under slips and innovations. Francophones, among others, will naturally confuse the two, without implying suffering. In French, sulfur has the same pronunciation as the verb suffer, so that if you suffer from sulfur, you “souffre du soufre”. And it’s hard to know whether nonfrancos are not simply misspelling the word. The same applies to sufferic acid.

Each year the global atmosphere is on the receiving end of 20 billion tons of carbon dioxide, 130 million tons of suffer dioxide [...] The outlook for future emissions of suffer dioxide is not a bright one.

Greenhouse fears
In the 50s and 60s and early 70’s, the planet was cooling, even with elevated green house gases. It was the suffer dioxide in the atmosphere (which increases the albeato affect). It also caused acid rain, and in 1976 we basically eliminated suffer dioxide emissions for that reason. Thats when temps. stated rising. suffer dioxide might be a clue to reducing the impact of GW.

Drain cleaner
Some plumber recommended it to me. Supposably it is sufferic acid with extenders to go down into the pipe to eat any hair, grease or furr balls in the pipe further.

The francophone connection:

Albeato effect? Because it beats back the sunlight?

Re: "Suffer" dioxide

Looks like it. With “al-” being the same prefix as “alright”? Or is it like “beatific”?
