'moulting/molting lava' for 'molten lava'

This is the return ticket for mattpostgate’s ‘molten’ for ‘molting’ and to which I would have tagged this had I been able to access it – it seems to have disappeared. If moulting/molting is the periodic shedding of feathers or skin, it is possible for an eggcornee to assume the earth itself is having a periodic molt when lava is moltin’/molten:
