“THE New York Hilton. It is the breakfast hour, the day before Thanksgiving, and the lobby is busy with clean-looking families who are up and Adam, ready to set off in their varsity-letter jackets and Rockports for some holiday shopping, maybe a show.”

Since there’s already an “up and Adam” thread, can this one can be the “eggcorns (etc.) in publications that should know better” thread?
Harvard Magazine has referred to giving someone “free reign” (instead of “free rein”). Wish I could give chapter and verse, but this was a few years back. At least that one makes sense!

“Free reign” is in our database and has been received brief mention in forum posts.
