housepitality << hospitality

A search of the web reveals hundreds, perhaps thousands of examples of “houspitality” and “houspitable.” A sample entry:

Review of a sports bar: “Great houspitality, and great food! ”

These may be examples of WTF typos, with nimble and forgetful fingers adding an extra “u” to the “o.” But the embedding of the Teutonic “house” inside of a word derived from the Latin term for “host” (hospitem) is tendentious. Hospitality is often associated with houses.
