pale and wan > pale and wane

[Beldor(#28491)] Sitting in a padded chair, Beldor looks a bit pale and wane. His right leg is raised and bandages wrap about splints fixed by the Healers. Over his white tunic is a simple cloak to ward off any chill as well as the rain that drizzles down.

That second reference would be incorrect if you substituted “pale and wan”, wouldn’t it?

You’re right, that was a careless reference and it would be incorrect. There are others that fit the pattern, though. Maybe I unconsciously substituted “wax and wane” in the second reference.
