Sometimes you google something without expecting too much. “Voltive candle†led me to this, but I didn’t really expect to see 39 unique hits – even in badly spelled forum posts. The phonological distance from “Molotov†to “moltive†may disqualify this, but it also indicates that the users were willing to reshape the original to a fairly impressive degree. If they’re actually making sense of this, I imagine the “molt-“ is seen as implying “molten,†as in “molten lava.†Examples:

Bizarre! If people do construe melting, though, and aren’t doing this on purpose, it’s eggcornaceous/eggcornical/whatever.

I’m not sure of the moltive for this one either: molt off. Is it incendiary or ecdysiastic?
