'soft-soak' for 'soft-soap'

As an idiom, ‘soft-soap’ means to soothe or persuade by flattery. The eggcorn version is a bit more literal- soothing by immersion and softening. Rare.

Re: 'soft-soak' for 'soft-soap'

I like this one and it may not be quite so literal – ‘soak’ meaning to charge an exorbitant price is still current I think, and together with soft is a rather accurate way of referring to the confidence trickery apparent in Ken’s examples.
