'sizemic shift' for 'seismic shift'

It could be that many users assume sizemic is a synonym for sizeable, with a touch of cosmic thrown in for good measure. At any rate, there seems an assumption that the size of the change is great:

When, as a manufacturer of film or cameras you see such a sizemic shift in the market, not to respond to it is to commit commercial suicide. ...

I know that there are a lot of folk who feel that there is going to be some form of galctic, sizemic shift on December 21st 2012, ...

Very clear one, for me. Good find! (I like galctic too!)

Re: 'sizemic shift' for 'seismic shift'

Awesome find. I love the notion that one might hear “seismic” and construe it as “sizemic” ... an adjective derived from “size.” And, since seismic events are enormous in size, the context is well-preserved. Unless I’ve overlooked something, this one is going to end up on my top-20 list of eggcorns for the year. (Though with all the excellent submissions this past month, my top-20 list may end up with well over 40!)

“Sizemologist” and “sizemology” also occur. Many examples of these two words are puns.

Hatching new language, one eggcorn at a time.
