"as oppose to" in place of "as opposed to"

From a personal finance website:
What are your needs as oppose to your wants?

Also, in an “Ask Yahoo” question someone asked, “Gentlemen is there a difference between courting a lady as oppose to dating?”
There are many more examples of this incorrect usage.

The incorrect phrase of “as oppose to” got 288,000 Google hits.
The correct phrase of “as opposed to” got 33,000,000 Google hits.

Welcome to the forum, RandyOlson. “As oppose to” is clearly non-standard, but it’s probably not an eggcorn. An eggcorn has to make some kind of sense in context, but with different imagery than that used in the standard form of the word or phrase.
