"stride" for "strive"

This semester’s student essays are a gold mine:

“I will always stride to become the best reader that I can.”

Clearly, the student wants to make great strides in his reading ability.

I’ve also found “stride to accomplish:”

“We will always stride to accomplish something within D3sires and make the most of it.” Here: http://www.myspace.com/d3sires
