plantform = platform

This cooperative project has resulted in several different programs on different plantforms

Annix Website Development – Different Plantforms –

But it will not be smart programming since on different plantforms the size of integers varies from 2 to 4

So I can develop scripts on one machine and have it go out to run test on 5 more machines on different plantforms.

It is already a figure of speech to see Windows vs. UNIX vs. Apple OS as “platforms”: seeing them as different lifeforms, even brachiating lifeforms, doesn’t seem that far out to me.
.
Which being said, WTF typoing is quite possibly enough to explain most if not all instances.

Re: plantform = platform

Although these occurrences may simply be typos, one other explanation is that a “plantform” is a place where one plants his feet.

Re: plantform = platform

This feels like something of a reach to me. Insertion of n is so common in English—especially when the result is an element identical with a real word—that I’d bet that a lot of instances could be explained by that tendency alone. And I have a lot of trouble imagining that anyone else would imagine computer platforms as “plantforms.”
