The idiomatic “coign of vantage” refers to a favorable position for viewing / acting. It is not surprising to see the lesser-known “coign” replaced with the more tangible “coin.” The use of coin suggests an asset … refering either to the favorable position itself or the means that allowed one to get to that position.
